In August, many members of CoMet as well as other voice specialists, musicians and therapists met in Salzburg (Austria). Josef Schlömicher-Thier – Secretary-General of CoMet and company physician for the famous Salzburg Festival – organised the 10th international voice symposium. A total of 120 participants from all over the world enjoyed surgical workshops, voice therapy lessons and lectures, including one of Philippe Dejonckere, President of CoMet.

This year’s symposium focused on the medical care and the treatment of singers and wind players. It was opened by Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler, president of the Salzburg Festival, who emphasised the importance of a professional treatment of singers and musicians, especially during festivals with a tight schedule. After a common program in the morning of Day 1, participants could choose between six workshops in the afternoon. In the evening everyone enjoyed a concert of the master class of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

The second day started with a musical opening by Olga Pudova (Soprano) and Nico de Villier (Piano) followed by intensive lectures, workshops and a exciting panel discussion (with CoMet-members Eugenia Chavez, Karin Joussen, Markus Hess, Per-Ake Lindestad and Bernhard Richter, moderated by Gerrit Wohlt).
